Asprela

The Asprela neighbourhood is Porto's academic heartland — home to the University of Porto's main campus, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Medicine, and the São João hospital complex. It is not a quiet suburb but a genuinely urban district, well connected by metro to the rest of the city, with the daily rhythm of a place where thousands of students and researchers live and work. Living in Asprela means being able to walk to lectures, to the library, and to the cafés and green spaces that fill the campus edges.

Asprela is a 264-room purpose-built student residence positioned directly at the foot of the university campus. The building offers a full range of shared amenities designed for academic life — study rooms, social spaces, and functional common areas — as well as well-designed individual rooms that give students the quiet and the space to focus. Every detail of the programme has been developed with the specific needs of the Porto student population in mind.

Delivered at the end of March 2024, Asprela was developed with BREEAM standards in mind, using energy performance, air quality, and material quality as design and construction priorities. Co-developed with Cetim and leased long term to Odalys the project reflects Promiris’ approach to student housing: durable buildings, clear operational logic, and no compromise on the quality of everyday student life.
